a tiger.....

What do you think of when you hear the word “tiger”? Big, giant, cat, fast, runners, sharp teeth, claws, paws, scary, or beautiful? But there are more to tigers than just those things. Tigers are not only “big cats.” They are the biggest known species of cat. Tigers are beautiful majestic creatures. They have beautiful amazing coats of fur that make them look camouflage for hunting their prey. And when it comes to the designs on their fur, no two tigers’ coats are the same-just like human fingerprints. People think that tigers are good hunters and can catch and bring their prey down because of how fast they run. but this is not entirely true. It is true that tigers are incredibly fast, but they rely more on their strength than their speed to bring down their prey. Tigers are more man-eating cats that any other-even lions. But...they can go DAYS without food. That is why they can eat so much at one time. to me, tigers symbolize royalty and kingship. people say that lions are the animals that are supposed to represent or symbolize royalty. but i think it's tigers that do because they are more majestic in the way they run-like they are flying-and how beautiful and silky their fur is. i see tigers as much more beautiful cats than lions despite lions' big manes and more muscular-looking bodies. the fact that tigers have more slim bodies makes them look more majestic and beautiful. and i love their stripes. since the stripes on tigers' bodies make each one different from all others, this symbolizes uniqueness, individuality, and the ability to stand out.

what can saipan's government do to improve economic conditions?

one thing saipan's government can do to improve the economy is open up a public transportation system. the government could get some buses, which don't have to be fancy or expensive, to transport people from their home areas to places around the island like where they work. bus stops could be put up in areas of the island for people to wait for the bus that will transport them to where they wish to go.
this would especially help people who can't afford to pay for gas, considering how much the gas price is being raised. the government would own these buses and would be spending quite a lot of money for gas, and the people would be saving money from not buying gas or cars. But if people were to be to ride the buses often, they would have to pay for bus passes or tickets with money that would go back to the the government to pay for the gas and maintenance of the buses.
the transportation of people from one part of the island to a farther area would cost the government a lot of money, but it would cost the people more money as well. for example, taking people from kagman to garapan and back again. buses would have to travel half way across the island to transport people there and back. but the people who are being taken by the buses half way across the island would have to pay more for bus passes. bus passes for certain distances would cost more money, which means the extra money from the longer distance bus passes would go back to the government and the money would be used to pay for gas for the buses again. and the bus cycles wouldn't have to run all the time, but at times like morning, noon, and afternoon/evening.
i think this would help the economy because the cycle would continue on and on. many people would benefit from this-especially the people who can't afford gas-and left over money from the cost of bus passes would be kept by the government to use for other expenses. it would not be a problem for the government to charge people low amounts of money for bus passes because so many people would be buying them.

the proudest moment of my life.......

the proudest moment of my life is helping my SIS girls' volleyball team win the championships for the first time on february 19, 2011. it was our last game against the marianas high school girls to determine who would win the high school girls public and private school volleyball league of 2011. i have a very hard, consistent serve which won our team quite a few points, helping us up to first place. our girls were undefeated for the whole season, playing and winning 11 games in a row. i am also good at saving balls that are hard to receive. i am usually not afraid to sacrifice myself with a painful lunge to save a ball that is about to touch the ground. that helped me help my team to the top.
i am proud of not only myself, but of my team as a whole. after the final kill was made by amber on the last point of the match that crowned us champions, i was so proud. we beat the team that was ranked right below us, meaning they were very good. we'd beat them twice during the season, once during the beginning of the playoffs, but lost to them on our second to last game.
i am extremely proud of my skill level and the the way i serve. it took me 7 years of effort, training, and triumph to get me to the skill level that i am at now. the reason why this is the proudest moment of my life is because this is my last year to play competitive volleyball for a school team. i am graduating from high school this year and when i do play volleyball in the future, it will not be the same. this is also one of the most memorable moments of my life-something that i will never forget.

"all things are created twice-first mentally, then second physically"-stephen r. covey

cell phones fall under Stephen R. Covey's quote, "all things are created twice-first mentally, second physically." it's amazing how people can communicate with each other from miles and miles away without cords or wires. the most fascinating part of the cell phone is being able to text. i can communicate with my sister, who lives in hawai'i, without using a telephone or calling her from my cell phone. there is a limit to what i can write, but i can still get through to her. the cell phone being able to connect to and pick up service from satellites to send messages to my friends and family is amazing. i wonder, "who invented the cell phone? how did the person who invented the cell phone come up with such a great invention? did he know that it would be such a great success? what was he thinking about when the idea came to his mind? and most importantly, how did he come up with and get the technology to make it work?"
Doctor Martin Cooper invented the modern cell phone. He invented the technology responsible for the cell phone when he was the Director of Research and Development at Motorola. Dr. Martin Cooper is also known as the first person to make a call on a cell phone. His revolutionary call took place on April 1973 in New York. He is currently the CEO of an antenna corporation. i think doctor cooper must have spent a long time studying and experimenting with technology and electronics to come up with the technology responsible for the cell phone. of course there were old day cell phones, but those could never compare to the modern day cell phone which gives me the ability to text. i sometimes wonder what it would be like if doctor martin did not invent the modern cell phone. how would we be able to connect with our friends and family if were not at home and did not have a land line? and what if we were in the middle of nowhere. life would be a lot different. parents would probably be much more happy than they are today, because their kids would have other things to do than spend time texting their friends.

my most memorable contribution to society....

the most i can think of is raising money for the red cross-collecting pledges and donations. that's pretty much the most i can think of really. but it is also memorable to me because i won prizes for raising the most amount of money-2 laptops. that also did my family good because they didn't have to pay for a laptop for me for school. i have also run laps around a track field to raise money for marianas cancer society. i've dong that for 4 years. each lap around the track raises money for the cancer society. i love running and exercise, so that is a good way for me to get some exercise and donate money to a good cause. i like raising and donating money for societies that fund cancer treatment for the unfortunate people who cannot pay for surgery or treatment because people in my family have had cancer or came very close to having cancer. i want to make sure that i can do all i can to make sure people are safe from cancer.

In 10 years from now i wil be.....

10 years from now i will be 27 years one, graduated from college with a major in marine biology and hopefully be married with at least 1 child or 1 child and another on the way with my husband. i would like to be a marine biologist or work at a place where i can share or use my knowledge on marine bio. i hope to me married to a marine biologist who i would have went to college with, that way when we get married and start our family, we will understand each other well and will be able to cooperate with each other to be able to raise a family with as little conflict as possible. i hope we will be able to work together which would save time and money.

I will have a savings account just for raising my children. having a child about 1 years old means i will have to stop working for a while to take care of him/her until it will be ok to send him/her to a daycare center. with the savings i have in the back just for my children, i will send my 1-year-old to a daycare where i know he/she will be well taken care of. to keep money in the bank for our children, my husband and i will put a certain percentage of our salaries into the account every month. I hope our first baby will be a boy and his name will be taylor-not because i like the actor taylor lautner, or because my favorite singer's name is taylor-because i like the name and think its unique. but if our first baby is a girl, her name will be dylan. many people say that dylan is a boy's name but i don't label names by gender.

I don't want to be a rich person that will make people talk about my family's back saying that we are a rich family. i just want my husband and i to have good salaries to raise our children and have a good life. if we end up "rich" most of the money will go into savings for our children's futures. i also want my husband and i to make a good amount of money so we can have a big family. eventually, i would like to have, at the most, 6 kids. i've always dreamed of having a lot of kids when i grow up.

so in 10 years, i will be a marine biologist, married to a marine biologist with 1 baby and hopefully another on the way. I will have a savings account especially for my kids' lives and futures and one with my husband to raise our family. i will be staying at home to take care of our baby boy until he is ready for daycare. my husband will be working , only during the day, so we can spend time as a family during the evening.

if i could bring only a book to a deserted island for one month, it would be.....

if i could only bring a book to a deserted island for one month, it would be have to be "Wicked." the book consists of different stories with characters such as trolls, goblins, talking animals, and the stories take place in same place as "the wizard of oz." there is the wicked witch of the west, who is feared by the people in the magical land. i love magical and mystical stories.
reading would be the only thing i would be able to do, so reading this book would keep me entertained and would expand my imagination. i like to think, "what if?" and reading "wicked" makes me think, "what if these things could really happen?" and "what if there is a real world out there like the world of oz where goats could talk, and goblins and trolls existed?" and "what if there really WAS a wicked witch of the west that every body feared?" I like the names of the characters in the stories. They are very unique-very special-frex, melena, turtle heart, galinda, etc. these aren't names you here everyday.
when i was little i loved to play pretend and make-believe (actually, sometimes i still do). i also like to draw make-believe characters and animals. i can picture in my mind a talking goat riding on a bus, a little green baby who can tell the future, pregnant trolls and goblins and much more. being on the deserted island would cause my imagination to wander and i would draw the pictures of the characters that in the book that i picture in my head.
"wicked" is a book that affects every reader differently. it is a little bit hard to read-it is meant for more advanced readers-but for good readers, it would would have a different effect on each one's imagination. that is what makes it very unique. it all depends on each person's imagination-which is almost 100% different from every other person's.
